Stack's Bowers May 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 32639
SB524-32639r.jpg

This specimen was lot 32639 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 10 Zlotych, 1932-MW. Warsaw Mint; mm: Arrow. ANACS MS-61. An enchanting Mint State crown, this specimen yields an abundance of luster across its largely argent surfaces." This type was struck at London and Warsaw in 1932-33. Queen Jadwiga is depicted on the obverse; as there were four Polish queens of that name, we don't know which one was intended. The most likely candidate was Jadwiga (1373-99) who was briefly queen regnant before her death at age 25. The mintmark in question is a tiny arrow in the eagle's right claw above the "CH" in "ZLOTYCH".

Recorded mintage: 3,100,000 from Warsaw plus 6,000,000 from London.

Specification: 22 g, 0.750 fine silver, 34 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM Y22, Dav-253.
