Sincona sale 84, lot 350

This specimen was lot 350 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 80,000 CHF (about US$107,728 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 1 1/2 Roubles - 10 Zlotych 1841, St. Petersburg Mint, NG. Proof. Mintage for Poland. Extremely rare, especially in this condition. 40 roubles according to Petrov. 50 roubles according to Ilyin. NGC PF62. Beautiful condition with magnificent patina. From the Soedermann Collection, auction SINCONA 7, Zürich, October 2012, lot 1221 (price realized: CHF 150,000). From the "Russian Coins of 19th and 20th century. Collection of Duplicates from Russian Museums", auction Adolph Hess Nachf. 204, Lucerne, February 1931, lot 1203."

This type was struck 1832-41 at Warsaw and St. Petersburg. Ten złotych equaled 1½ rubles. Russian coinage for Poland ended in 1850 altho the Warsaw mint continued to operate.
