Sincona sale 47, lot 1970

This specimen was lot 1970 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 7,000 CHF (about US$8,399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POLEN, Stanislas August Poniatowski, 1764-1795. Halbtaler 1784, Warschau. Äusserst seltene Erhaltung. NGC MS64. Hübsche Patina. (kingdom of Poland, Stanislas August Poniatowski, 1764-95, half thaler of 1784, Warsaw mint. Extremely rare condition, Attractive patina.)"

This type was struck 1783-84 in the final days of the Polish kingdom.

Recorded mintage: 12,000.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 14.08 g.
