This specimen was lot 24866 in Heritage sale 3016 (Orlando, FL, January 2012), where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "Danzig. Johann Casimir Taler 1650-GR, VF Details NGC (tooled), an attractive coin with old-time cabinet patina. The surfaces have been tooled, which is often the case for this era." This type is listed under Danzig for 1650-53; a similar bust appears on issues of Posen (Dav-4366) and Thorn (Dav-4377). Poland was partitioned out of existence in 1795 and coinage for Poland ceased in 1841 and regular Russian issues introduced.
