This specimen was lot 158 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it sold for €320 (about US$453 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy - Tallero 1606, Silver, FERDINANDO I 1587-1608, PISA Cuirassed bust to right. Rev. crowned coat of arms on cross. Some porosity. Very fine +." Pisa, after a long career as an independent city state in the Middle Ages, fell under Florentine domination in Renaissance times. After the Florentine republic collapsed, Pisa became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, ruled by the Medicis until 1723. The type is listed in the SCWC for 1601-08 and is probably the same as Dav-8392.
