Pfalz 1788-AS 5 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3585 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €260 (about US$340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BAYERN, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH: Karl Theodor, 1777-1799. 5 Kreuzer (Sechser) 1788, Mannheim, für die Rheinpfalz. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Winz. Schrötlingsfehler, Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 47, Dortmund 2008, Nr. 152. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Charles Theodore, 1777-99, five kreuzer of 1788, Mannheim mint, for the Palatinate. Rare in this condition, cabinet piece, a few planchet defects, uncirculated.)"
This denomination was not used in Bavaria but it was struck 1780-89, 1794-98 for the Palatinate. Karl Theodor was ruler of both.
