This specimen was lot 32895 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pfalz-Electoral. Friedrich IV 26 Albus 1608 XF Details (Cleaned) NGC, Mannheim mint. A beautifully patinated, moderately worn example of this singular issue that features illustrative design motifs front and back. Likely cleaned long ago, however, handsome gunmetal tone now covers the surfaces evenly with tinges of blush iridescence observed throughout. Sold with an old sales envelope." This 26 albus equaled a gulden. There were also 3¼ (KM 9), 6½ (KM 12) and 13 albus (KM 14), representing fractions of a gulden. His successor Frederick V later attempted to seize the throne of Bohemia from the Hapsburgs, setting off the Thirty Years War.
