The half sol denomination was originally occupied by the silver medio sol, struck 1907-17. It was superseded by a billon coin in 1922, which was replaced by a brass type in 1935. This type, issued 1975-76 from Lima, is the last of the denomination.

Recorded mintage: 62,682,000 plus 14,039,000 of KM 260 (the vicuña type).

Specification: brass, reeded edge.
