The type was struck in Lima 1950-70 in limited numbers as a bullion coin. This date is relatively common. Gold five, ten, twenty and fifty soles were struck during the same period. This specimen was lot 61454 and sold on Jan 11, 2011 for $2,415 at the Monthly World Coin Auction #611011 by Heritage Auctions. The catalog description noted: "Republic gold 100 Soles 1962, AU58 NGC."

Mintage: 9,678.

Specifications: 46.80 g, 0.900 fine gold, 1.3544 oz AGW.
