Peru 1947 20 centavos

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71431

The first specimen was lot 71431 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PERU. 20 Centavos, 1947. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. This is a very pleasing example of this type, displaying a first class appearance." This twenty centavos was struck in brass 1942-65 in various subtypes. This rare example was one of a few made in copper.

Recorded mintage: 4,307,000 in brass plus 300 in copper.
