This specimen was part of lot 33788 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), which sold for $293.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Pair of gold 1/5 Libras 1907 1922, Both KM 210 and Lima mint. Both Brilliant Uncirculated examples. From the Commander Collection." The gold libra superseded the silver sol as Peru's main unit of currency in 1898. The libra weighed the same as a British sovereign and equalled ten soles. The type was struck 1906-69, along with 1/2 libras and one libras.
