This half sol was struck in Lima in 1922 for Peru. This billon coin replaced a .900 fine silver half sol struck 1907-1917. This billon type was issued until 1935, when all silver was removed from the coinage. The SCWC notes varieties with LIBERTAD incuse and in relief but prices them the same. The date is rather expensive in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 465,000.
Specification: 12.5 g, 0.500 fine silver, .200 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM 216.
