This specimen was lot 2017 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $450. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, 4 reales, 1842 MB, ex-Whittier, ex-O'Brien. Scarce first date of type and a nice example at that, with boldly struck XF+ details and ample mint luster covered with pleasing rainbow toning in the fields. Pedigreed to the Whittier Collection and to the John O'Brien Collection, with his tag." This type was struck in Lima 1842-51 and 1854-56 and this is a somewhat scarce date. Assayer MB operated 1838-58.
