This specimen was lot 482 in Aureo y Calicó sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,283 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1774. Carlos III. Lima. MJ. 8 escudos. Hojitas en anverso. Brillo original. (MBC/EBC-). (Charles III, 1759-88, eight escudos of 1774, Lima mint. Laminations on obverse, mint luster, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This coin was minted 1772-89; later issues of this type (1785-89) were struck in gold lowered to 0.875 fine. Assayer MJ is listed for 1773-79.
