This specimen was lot 25439 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,586.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos III gold 8 Escudos 1771-JM, Fine 15 NGC, nicely toned and original, quite attractive and very close to VF. Scarce early bust type." This eight escudos was struck 1768-72 as a slightly modified version of the type issued 1763-68 (KM 70).
Reported Mintage: unknown. All dates are rare.
