Künker sale 386, lot 5932

This specimen was lot 5932 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €6,500 (about US$8,399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PERU, Fernando VI. 1746-1759. 2 Escudos 1750, Lima. GOLD. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön +. (Peru, Ferdinand VI, 1746-59, two escudos of 1750, Lima mint. Very rare date, choice very fine.)"

This type is listed in the SCWC for 1747-49; this is an unlisted date. The following year saw the first issue of machine struck gold coins.
