This specimen was lot 728 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, cob 1 real, 1687 R, ex-Ugaz. Broad round flan with choice full interior details plus bold full 1687 in legend (all three dates and assayers and mintmarks visible), lightly toned XF+. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection." The regime in Madrid finally permitted the viceroy in Lima to reopen the mint in 1684. This type was struck 1684-1701 for the degenerate Charles II. Assayer R is listed for 1685-91.
