This specimen was lot 51157 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Cob 1/4 Real, ND (ca. 1577-88)-P D. Lima Mint. Philip II. NGC VF-30. Variety with king's name in legend on both sides. Double striking gave this piece a curious look but has not diminished its fairly attractive details. Otherwise problem-free, it makes a charming representative of the type. From the EMO Collection."
