This specimen was lot 1268 in Goldberg Sale 139 (Los Angeles, June 2024), where it sold for $1,260. The catalog description[1] noted, "Malay States: Penang. ½ Pice (½ Cent), 1810. London mint. Pop 3; None Finer at PCGS. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Ex Baldwin's Auction 45, May 2006, lot 1489. The Peh Collection Part II." This type was struck in 1810 while Penang was a trading station of the East India Company and is scarce in nice condition. Later issues were struck for the Straits Settlements, centered on Singapore.
