Steve Album Auction 52, lot 3116

This specimen was lot 3116 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "NEPAL: PATAN: Jaya Vira Mahindra Deva, 1709-1715, AR mohar, NS829 (1709), VF-XF, ex George Anderson Collection." Other mohars of this potentate include KM 359, KM 365, KM 366, probably with different queens cited in the legends. The mohar was half a rupee and coins were minted down to 1/128 mohar. Wikipedia comments, "Vira Mahindra Malla, also known as Mahendra Malla, (Nepali: वीर महेन्द्र मल्ल) was a Malla dynasty king and the King of Patan. He succeeded Vira Narasimha Malla and reigned from 1709 to 1715."
