Passau 1714 thaler Dav-2521
This specimen was lot 657 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €340 (about US$482 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · PASSAU, BISTUM Raymund Ferdinand von Rabatta, 1713-1722. Reichstaler 1714, Augsburg. Ohne Signatur. Kl. Henkelspur, sehr schön. (Germany, bishopric of Passau, Raymund Ferdinand of Rabatta, 1713-22, thaler of 1714, Augsburg mint, without signature. Minor mount mark, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1714, 1716 and 1717. The bishop spent part of his reign squabbling with the bishop of Vienna, who wanted to be raised to an archbishop. The bishopric of Passau was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 and 1805.
