This specimen was lot 5112 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $460. The catalog description[2] noted, "Papua New Guinea. 100 Kina, 1975. Bird of paradise. Choice Brilliant Proof." This product of the Franklin Mint was the first gold coin of the new state of Papua New Guinea.

Recorded mintage: 100 in matte finish, 18,000 proofs and 8,081 in uncirculated finish.

Specification: 9.57 g, 0.900 fine gold, .276 troy oz AGW.
