Papal States 1760 2 giulio
This type was minted 1760-66 for Clement XIII (1758-69). The doppio giulio was twenty baiocchi, while the scudo was one hundred baiocchi. The SCWC notes this type as fairly common. The second specimen was lot 1599 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €220 (about US$289 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Clemens XIII. 1758-1769. 1/5 Scudo (Doppio Giulio) AN II/1760, Rom. Ecclesia sitzt nach r. in Wolken. Mit Wappen des Presidente della zecca, Monsieur Bernardino De Vecchis, auf der Rückseite. Sehr schön. (Papal States, Clement XIII, 1758-69, fifth scudo or double giulio of the year 2, 1760, Rome mint. Obverse: the Church seated in clouds facing right; reverse: mintmaster's arms. Very fine.)"
