This specimen was lot 42439 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal (States of the Church). Scudo (Piastra), 1620-FR. Ferrara Mint. Paul V. NGC VF-25. A wholesome and charming piece with a deep cabinet toning. Seldom offered in any condition, let alone a wholesome yet circulated example." This type was struck 1620 at Ferrara, in the north of the Papal State. St. George, the patron saint of that town, appears on the reverse. This type is rare.
