Jean Elsen sale 132, lot 581

This specimen was lot 581 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €130 (about US$165 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Paul V (1605-1621), (Camillo Borghese), AR teston, an 3, Rome. D/ Armoiries. R/ Saint Pierre, ten. une clé, et saint Paul, ten. une épée, deb. de f. Très Beau. (Italy, Pontifical State, Paul V (1605-21), silver testone, year 3, Rome mint. Obverse: arms; reverse: SS. Peter and Paul standing, bearing a key and a sword. Very fine.)"

Berman notes this type for years II, III and IIII. It is along the commoner of the eighteen different listed for Paul V.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
