This specimen was lot 30789 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Papal States. Leo X gold Ducat ND (1513-21), Bologna mint, AU50 NGC. An appealing example with old-time patina and well-struck details. Very scarce in this quality. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson." The Bologna mint began issuing gold for the popes during the reign of Urban VI (1378-89) and continued until Pius VI (1774-99).
