The first specimen was lot 3531 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$5,072 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY, Vatican - Church State, Alexander VI. 1492-1503 Fiorino di camera o. J. Rom. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Papal States, Alexander VI, 1492-1503, undated fiorino di camera. Very rare in this condition, Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

The second specimen was lot 1042 in CNG sale Triton XXVII (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $4,287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY, Papal (Papal state). Alexander VI. 1492-1503. AV Fiorino di camera Rome mint. Crossed keys surmounted by papal tiara over coat-of-arms; all within quadrilobe / St. Peter standing left in boat, casting net. In NGC encapsulation 6864464-002, graded MS 61. From the J. Eric Engstrom Collection. Ex Kallman Collection (Triton XX, 10 January 2017), lot 1301; Elsen 95 (15 March 2008) lot 1029." We believe the fiorino (florin) to be the same denomination as the ducat or zecchino. Friedberg records the first fiorino from 1475 and the last from the reign of Paul III (1534-49).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.39 g, 0.986 fine gold, the first specimen is 3.38 g; the second specimen is 22 mm diameter, 3.37 g, 11 h axis.
