Panama 1996 1 centesimo

from the Acanthite collection

from the Acanthite collection

This series was struck in 1996 and 2001 at the Royal Canadian Mint. It features the bust of Urraca, a native chieftain, on the obverse. We find it mind-boggling that a country of 3.4 million people would need 180 million of these coins.

Recorded mintage: 180,000,000.

Specification: copper-plated zinc.

Catalog reference: KM 125.
