Osnabruck 1676 24 mariengroschen KM-137
This specimen was lot 339 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$228 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Osnabrück, Bistum, Ernst August I. Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg, 1662-1698. 24 Mariengroschen 1676, Melle. Sehr schön. (Germany, bishopric of Osnabrück, Ernest Augustus I, duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, 1662-98, 24 mariengroschen of 1676, Melle mint. Very Fine.)"
This denomination, equal to a gulden, was struck 1675-76 in two varieties: KM 136/Dav-412 ("VON FEINEM SILBER", shown here) and KM 137/Dav-411 ("SOLA BONA QVÆ HONESTA"). The bishopric was later merged with the bishopric of Münster and both were annexed to Hannover in 1803.
