This specimen was lot 73018 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "OMAN. 5 Omani Rials, AH 1397 (1977). Qaboos bin Said. PCGS MS-67. Wildlife Conservation series: Arabian White Oryx. Mintage: 4,355. Rather argent and with a matte-like allure to the surfaces, this enthralling Gem radiates with exceptional appeal." This denomination was also used for a gold NCLT honoring the sultan's seven anniversary. A 2½ rials featured the caracal and a 75 rials featured the tahr (Arabitragus jayakari), a rare desert sheep.
