This specimen was lot 34245 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "Oman: Qabus bin Sa'id gold Proof "Population Census" Omani Rial 2003 PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC. Commemorating the Population Census of December, 2003." The version shown in the SCWC is sterling silver and is listed as rare. We presume this gold off-metal strike is even rarer.

Recorded mintage: unknown but few.

Specification: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.6 mm diameter; this specimen probably 39.94 g, 0.917 fine gold, AGW 1.1132 oz.
