Olmutz 1695 3 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 998 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "Austria: Olmütz. 3 Kreuzer (Groschen), 1695. Karl II. von Liechtenstein, 1664-1695. Pop 1; The only one graded at PCGS. Mostly untoned. PCGS graded MS-62. The Augustana Collection." Many varieties exist of this basic design struck throughout Karl II's reign; this subtype was struck 1695 only. At this time, the three kreuzer was 1/30 thaler but would slip to 1/40 thaler on the introduction of the convention thaler. This ecclesiastical state was in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic. For the seventeenth century, Olmütz minors are common but thalers and ducats are rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
