SB823-53648r.jpg

This specimen was lot 53648 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Olmutz. 6 Kreuzer, 1674. Kremsier Mint. Karl II von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn. NGC MS-62. From the Augustana Collection." This six kreuzer was struck 1673-79, 1685 and 1693 and is fairly common. At this time, the six kreuzer was 1/15 thaler but would slip to 1/20 thaler on the introduction of the convention thaler. This ecclesiastical state was in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic. For the seventeenth century, Olmütz minors are common but thalers and ducats are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-236.2 (formerly KM 71.2).
