Olmutz 1662 15 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 1227 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €150 (about US$207 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, OLMÜTZ, Évêché, Leopold Wilhelm, archiduc d'Autriche (1637-1662), AR 15 Kreuzer, 1662, Vyskov. D/ B. à d. R/ Écu posé sur une crosse et une épée, sous une mitre et une couronne. Brisure de coin au droit. Très Beau. (Holy Roman Empire, bishopric of Olmütz, Leopold William, archduke of Austria, 1637-62, silver fifteen kreuzer of 1662, Vyskov mint. Obverse: bust right; reverse: shield over a cross and a sword; above, a miter and a crown. Die break on the obverse, Very Fine.)"
Olmütz, then in Moravia, is now Olomuoc in the Czech Republic. This fifteen kreuzer was struck 1659, 1661, 1662 and was worth one-sixth of a thaler. The Vyškov mint operated only 1659-1664.
