Oldenburg 1665 thaler Dav-7115
This specimen was lot 338 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,439 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Oldenburg, Grafschaft, Anton Günther, 1603-1667. Taler 1665, Jever. Auf den 82. Geburtstag des Grafen. Prägung der 3. Münzperiode, Münzmeister David Ziegenhorn. Selten. Sehr schön. (Germany, county of Oldenburg, Anthony Gunther, 1603-67, thaler of 1665, Jever mint, on his 82nd birthday. Rare, Very Fine.)"
Anton Günther, count of Oldenburg 1603-67, was also lord of Jever, where this coin was struck. After his death, Jever passed to the dukes of Anhalt-Zerbst and Oldenburg to the kings of Denmark.
