Sincona sale 26, lot 2754

This specimen was lot 2754 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 3,800 CHF (about US$4,694 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Nurnberg, Dukat 1745. Titel Franz I. Vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, ducat of 1745, in the name of Francis I, extremely fine.)"

Like most of the gold issues from this city during the eighteenth century, this type is rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.47 g.
