Sincona sale 38, lot 1207

This specimen was lot 1207 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$960 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Nurnberg, Stadt, Goldgulden 1508. Gutes sehr schön. Kleiner Randfehler. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, goldgulden of 1508, Good very fine, Minor rim nick.)"

Friedberg notes that the city began striking these in 1429 but did not add the date until 1506. The type was terminated in 1547. The figure is St. Laurence.
