Sincona sale 20, lot 2471

This specimen was lot 2471 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 800 (about US$1,003 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Goldgulden 1507. Selten. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (rare, very fine or better.)" Friedberg notes that the city began striking these in 1429 but did not add the date until 1506. The type was terminated in 1547. The figure is St. Laurence.
