Sincona sale 38, lot 1205

This specimen was lot 1205 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,679 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Nürnberg, Reichsmünzstätte, Sigismund, 1410-1437 Goldgulden o. J. (1414-1419). Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, imperial mint of Nuremberg, Sigismund (1410-37) undated goldgulden. Rare, Good very fine.)"

This early type struck for the emperor Sigismund is considerably rarer than the goldgulden of the early 1500's which are the first to be dated.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.47 g.
