Norway 1894 2 kroner
This specimen was lot 1540 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY: Oscar II, 1872-1905, AR 2 kroner, 1894. PCGS graded VF30." In 1907, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden and became an independent kingdom under a Danish prince. Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark. The specimen shown here is from of a type struck 1877-1904 and was accompanied by a silver fifty øre and one krone of similar design. Many dates are very scarce. This specimen may not have sold due to its blatant overgrading.
Recorded mintage: 75,000.
Specification: 15 g, 0.800 fine silver, .385 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM-359.
