This specimen was lot 11176 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €552 (about US$575). The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. 8 Skilling, 1809-IGP. Kongsberg Mint. Frederik VI. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." In 1809, production of the billon eight skilling resumed after being suspended in 1795. This type was struck 1809 only but is not rare. In 1814, Denmark was forced to surrender Norway to Sweden.
