This specimen was lot 40707 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Speciedaler, 1776-HIAB. NGC AU-53. Christian VII (1766-1808). Dark toned." This type is recorded for 1776-85 and is the first specie daler that is affordable. This specimen was later offered in Ponterio sale 173 as lot 1615 and sold for $1,028. Similar coins were struck at Copenhagen and Altona but are filed under Denmark.
