This specimen was lot 2882 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $1,207.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Speciedaler, 1636. Christian IV (1588-1648). Slightly bent with surface marks and edge nicks. VERY FINE." This daler was struck for Norway by Christian IV, king of Denmark 1588-1648. Despite a steady issue for 1629-48, this type is rare. The weight was reduced to 28.72 g in 1648 and it's possible many of this type were melted.

Recorded mintage: 50,000.

Specification: 29.23 g, 0.882 fine silver.

Catalog reference: H-5A; Dav-3534; KM-12; Sieg-16.1.
