This specimen was lot 3694 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Niger. 25 Francs, 1968. Barbary Sheep. NGC graded Proof 68 Ultra Cameo." This type was accompanied by a ten francs in silver (KM 8.1) and gold (KM 7) also featuring African wildlife. Niger is a poverty-stricken former French colony on the edge of the Sahara desert in Africa. The SCWC lists no circulating coinage for the country, which uses the CFA franc.
