This specimen was part of lot 31084 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), which sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Niger: Republic 4-Piece Uncertified gold Proof Set 1968 Ultra Cameo NGC, 1) 10 Francs - PR68 NGC, KM 7; 2) 25 Francs - PR67 NGC, KM 9; 3) 50 Francs - PR67 NGC, KM 10; 4) 100 Francs - PR67 NGC, KM 11. A low-mintage and complete Proof set. Sold with the original red case of issue and COA #1270." We don't believe Niger has ever issued coins for circulation; like many former French colonies, Niger uses the CFA franc backed by its former ruler France.
Recorded mintage: 1,000 sets.
Specification: 3.2 g, 0.900 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-8, KM 7; KM-PS2 (set).
