This specimen was lot 33744 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada: Newfoundland. George V Large Cent 1917-C MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. Displaying a crisp strike, with deeper russet tone in the central portions and lovely cupric flares on the edges. A most desirable gem mint offering." This type was struck 1913 at London and 1917-20, 1929, 1936 at Ottawa for Newfoundland (then a separate colony) and is the last large cent struck for circulation there.

Recorded mintage: 702,350 plus proofs.
