This specimen was lot 53909 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Newfoundland. 2 Dollars, 1870. London Mint. Victoria. NGC AU-50. Variety with no dot after 'NEWFOUNDLAND'." This type was struck for Newfoundland in limited numbers 1865-88 and is fairly available in circulated condition.
Recorded mintage: 10,000 plus a few Specimens.
