This specimen was lot 23037 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $95. The catalog description[1] noted, "NEW ZEALAND. 1/2 Penny, 1942. PCGS MS-64 RB Secure Holder. Radiant reds highlight the surfaces with noteworthy luster." New Zealand did not receive her own coinage until 1933, British coins being used heretofore. Issue of pennies and half pennies did not begin until 1940. This is the key date, despite the large mintage, of a type struck 1940-47.
