This specimen was lot 72574 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $95. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Dutch East India Company. Holland. Duit, 1780. Dordrecht Mint. NGC AU-53 Brown. Wholesome and highly original, this example displays some hints of brilliance remaining in the protected areas, with a slight degree of striking weakness noted as well." Holland issued this type 1726-37, 1742-57, 1764-93. Besides Holland, duits were made by Utrecht, Zeeland, Gelderland and Westfriesland. Most dates are common. Gold and silver presentation strikes exist but not for 1780.
