The Utrecht mint revived the gold ducat in 1972 for sale to bullion speculators. The double ducat was added in 1988 and the silver ducat in 1989. The design of the silver ducat changes annually to honor the various provinces and Dutch heroes of the past. This revived lion dollar appears to be a new series as it is not mentioned in the SCWC or Mevius. It copied the lion dollar of Utrecht.
